Say No to ‘Quinone…

hydroquinone

…hydroquinone that is. Since we’ve been discussing melasma the last two blogs I want to just go over three typical treatments for melasma. Hydroquinone, laser treatments, and chemical peels. Some other treatments, that we won’t get in to, would be tretinoin or corticosteroids and azelaic or kojic acids. Did you have trouble pronouncing most of those? Yeah, me too. That’s a bad sign already, huh? Well, let’s just go over the first three I mentioned.

Hydroquinone is a skin lightener and does such by breaking down your skin’s pigment cells. Apparently, it also causes dizziness, headaches, nausea, vomiting, dyspnea (labored breathing), cyanosis (bluish coloration of the skin due to lack of oxygen in the blood), convulsions, delirium, and even more.

Laser Treatments use high-intensity monochromatic coherent light and depending on the wavelength, pulse characteristics, and fluence of the laser being used and the nature of the condition being treated it can be used for many different skin conditions. Again, some side effects are temporary pain, redness, bruising, blistering and/or crusting, infection including reactivation of herpes simplex, pigment changes (such as brown or white marks and may be permanent), and scarring. If you ask me, why would you risk laser treatment to get rid of your brown patches when a side effect may be permanent brown or chemical-peel-716x403white marks….? Anyways, next is:

Chemical Peels involves using a toxic chemical solution to control the death of your skin tissue. Once your skin dies you produce new skin cells in hopes of the skin damaged with melasma dies off. There are warnings for those with dark pigmented skin to be apprehensive because chemical peels may cause skin tone to come back uneven. Which is surprising that this would be a treatment for melasma since melasma is most common in people with darker skin tones. The side effects may include heart, kidney, or even liver damage, scarring, infection, reactivation of herpes simplex infection, and a substantial contrast in coloration of the treated skin.

WOW. After reading all those side effects it’s truly a surprise why some of these are still the most common practices for melasma treatment. I must say I am glad you read it and I am even more glad to say we have a MUCH better solution for you and your melasma.

“Hi, I know you told me that it would take some time to notice a difference in the melasma on my face, but I think you’d be interested in hearing what’s happened…I started the Herbal Face Food on June 12. I noticed a difference in my melasma after only 2 applications. I quickly dismissed it as being overly-optimistic and engaging in wishful thinking. But, when (after 3 applications) my husband commented that the melasma was lighter and disappearing in some areas on June 13, I realized I wasn’t imagining the results. Yesterday (after 5 applications) my husband told me that the melasma was less noticeable than the day before and that my make-up was doing a better job of covering it. Yippeeee! The “new” melasma was the first to fade or disappear. I’ve had a dark patch on the center of my forehead for almost a year. Last night (after 6 applications), I noticed that it is starting to break up and disappear. There is some normal skin color within the pigmented area. Instead of a solid patch, it looks more like “swiss cheese.” At this rate, that patch should be gone over the next 2 -3 weeks or sooner. I hope it continues to work. Please ship another bottle of the Herbal Face Food.” – Rosana

“I got the trial bottle and have been using it for 5 days now. I’ve already noticed some changes in my skin. The dark spots have faded gradually and my skin texture is getting smoother. I would like to order 6 bottles of trial packs to be given to my friends who have the same skin problems. Where can I order and how much will I pay? Thank you very much for this amazing product!!!” – Mildred
