Any day now Spring will be here and right after Spring is SUMMER. The season of showing off your skin. So, I wanted to go over getting rid of cellulite and much much more. Let’s prepare our bikini bodies for summer.
Dry Body Brushing
Most people just tend to the skin on their face, but what about the rest of your body. When was the last time you took care of your largest organ? Because we’re all about healthy skin and holistic healing we’ve recently become obsessed with dry body brushing. This is a technique, developed by Finnish Dr. Paavo Airola, to help stimulate your internal organs and, of course, your largest organ. It is a preventative for dry skin and helps stimulate skin renewal.
To successfully dry brush we suggest looking for one with bristles made from natural materials, such as our coconut fiber brush (look for our special on our newsletter). And like anything you need to make a habit of dry brushing to achieve the best results, typically one or two times a day. This shouldn’t be hard, you’ll become addicted to dry brushing. You’ll start to find it relaxing! Some find it more addicting then a fresh cup of morning coffee.
When you brush, always brush toward your heart in firm strokes. You don’t want to be in pain or irritate your skin. Brushing towards your heart is good for your circulation and lymphatic system. I always start at the soles of my feet and work my way up. I pay special attention to the areas I typically have cellulite, ingrown hairs, and stretch marks.
Detoxifying Your Skin
Your skin is your largest organ and most important for eliminating toxins. It is responsible for 1/4 of your body’s detoxification each day and eliminates over 1lb of waste acids per day. Detoxification is performed by a number of your organs, glands, and transportation systems. Which includes skin, gut, kidneys, liver, lungs, lymphatic system, and mucous membranes. Dry brushing helps detox your skin and improve circulation.
Cleansing Your Lymphatic System
Your lymphatic system is made up of white blood cells called lymphocytes and the interstitial fluid that bathe our cells, bring them nutrients and remove their waste. All of our detoxification occurs first through our lymph and our bodies contain way more lymph than blood. Dry brushing moves the lymph which contains large proteins and particulate matter that cannot be transported back any other way to our circulatory system.
Canning Your Cellulite
This is what you’re reading this article for, huh? I saved the best for last! We all want those flawless thighs and tush (at least I do), but it seems like it’s always cellulite stopping us from having such smooth skin. Now you can learn to soften the dimples in your tush and get back your smooth skin. The way dry skin brushing helps is by softening the hard fat deposits below your skin while distributing fat deposits more evenly. This is what may help diminish the appearance of cellulite. Dry brushing is also said to help reduce cellulite by removing toxins that may break down connective tissue.
With all this new information and benefits of dry body brushing that I’ve even learned from researching I’m falling in love. I’m reaping the benefits inside AND outside. My lymphatic system loves me, my skin is detoxing, and my bikini will look better on me this summer. Not to mention I start my morning by waking up with a quick dry body brushing, which means I don’t need coffee for the caffeine anymore, just the taste!
