Beach days, pool parties, and camping trips are going on over here in SoCal so before we soak up the sun, we want you to do it safely. A good natural SPF is hard to find but here are some natural plants, herbs, oils, etc. that contain natural SPF.
1. Red Raspberry Seed Oil – From what we researched this seems to be the best for broad UV protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Raspberry Seed Oil contains high levels of alpha and vitamin E, A, omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. Some sources said that it can contain SPF as high as 28 – 50, though even if that is accurate we are not sure how much you’d need to apply.
2. Hemp Seed – Hemp Seed Oil provide natural SPF and even though it may only be an SPF of 6 it is great to see sunscreens with Hemp Seed oil and know you’re getting a little extra SPF.
3. Coconut Oil – Known to have an SPF of 4 and block about 75% of UV radiation. Coconut oil allows the beneficial rays to get through while preventing free radicals forming.
4. Green and White Tea Extracts – Although, it is a really low SPF of about 1. You’ll be glad to hear that it is full of antioxidants and polyphenols which help fight free radicals. Drink it up to help fight UV rays from the inside out.
Although these ingredients are ahhmayzing and have such amazing benefits they each provide variable UV protection. Each ingredient provides low levels of SPF and it all depends on how much you apply to your skin, how much is absorbed, and these ingredients do better in combination with other ingredients rather than solo. Go enjoy your beach days and pool parties without the worry of sunburning. Party on and protect your skin!
